“A goal properly set is halfway reached” — Zig Ziglar

FOCUS on Objective

What does a goal mean?

Until and unless we execute, initially, a goal is a blueprint about an objective or target that someone is trying to reach or achieve. The goal is a time-bound task to accomplish.

Why do we need Goals-?

To have success in life, we must have goals in life, if we do not have a goal or vision of where we are going then we drift out and never end up anywhere, So Setting goals gives us long-term vision and short-term motivation. The goal keeps us focused on our acquisition of knowledge, and helps us to organize our time & resources so that we can make the most of our life, help us to increase our self-esteem, and to overcome procrastination, fear, and failure. It also helps us to understand where we are and where we want to be.

What is Goal Setting -?

It is a process and also the kind of goal depends on our age, the goal at the age of twenty will be different from the goal of age forty, fifty, sixty, and so on.

Goals help motivate us to develop strategies that will enable us to perform at the required goal level.

Accomplishing the goal can either lead to satisfaction and further motivation or frustration and lower motivation if the goal is not accomplished too.

Important Aspects of Goal Setting-

Owning the Goal.

Controlling the Goal.

Setting a time frame for the Goal.

Duration-wise Types of Goals?

Long-term Goals — 1 year to 10 years.

Short-term Goals — 3 months to 9 months.

Immediate Goals- 1 to 30 days, and

Action-Oriented Goals –

What should the Goals be?

When we set the goal, we should keep in mind that the GOAL should always be SMART, which will bring success to our goal.

S= Specific

M= Measurable

A=Attainable

R=Realistic

T= Time-Bound

Goals always help us to fulfill our vision, in that perspective, there are different types of Goals-

#Physical Goals.

#Career/Business/Professional Goals.

#Financial Goals.

#Relationships and Family Goals.

#Self-Development & Spiritual Goals.

#Pleasure Goals.

#Social Goals.

Somehow all the goals are interdependent, in certain challenging situations we should be ready to re-adjust our goals and not give up on them.

Why do Goals fail-?

#If it is not written effectively.

#No Rewards for achieving the goal.

#The goal was unrealistic or not specific.

#Little or no commitment.

#Keep changing goals with the situations.

#Not set the accountable partner.

#Not affirmed in an impactful way.

#Procrastinated.

#Right Hurdle or challenges were not identified on time or timely desired right action not taken.

#Not reviewed or evaluated from time to time in each milestone.

Five Steps to set the Impactful Goal

1. Clarity

2. Challenge

3. Commitment

4. Feedback

5. Task Complexity

Clarity is very much essential when it is to goals. Setting goals that are clear and specific to eliminate the confusion which happens when a goal is not set in a specific way.

Challenging goals stretch your mind and will force us to think bigger. This helps us to accomplish more. Each success we achieve helps us build a winning mindset.

Commitment is of utmost importance. If we do not commit to our goal with everything we have, then it is prudent that we will achieve less.

Feedback helps us to understand what we are doing & how we are doing it. This allows us to adjust our expectations and our plan of action going forward.

Task Complexity is the final factor. It’s important to set goals that are aligned with the goal’s complexity.

Celebrate the WIN

NOTE: At any given point in time we must focus on our single Goal with undivided attention to achieve the optimum benefits, Similar technique we can apply for our any GOAL, in a way with this undivided attention technique we can achieve many Goals in a specified time.

A Takeaway Message

Setting goals can help us move forward in life. Goals give us a roadmap to follow. Goals are a great way to hold ourselves accountable, even if we fail. Setting goals and working to achieve those helps us define what we truly want in life.

Setting goals also helps us prioritize things. If we choose to simply wander through life, without a goal or a plan, that’s certainly our choice. However, setting goals can help us live the life we truly want to live.
